Margo Price will release new album ‘Strays’ on January 13th.
The material for the album was penned during a trip to Southern California, with Margo Price – and her husband Jeremy Ivey – imbibing hallucinogenic mushrooms and absorbing the West Coast scenery.
Taking these songs into the studio with Jonathan Wilson, the project is dubbed “a resilient proclamation of freedom” by its author.
Recorded at Five Star Studio in California’s Topanga Canyon, the LP is led by recently-released album preview ‘Been To The Mountain‘.
“I feel this urgency to keep moving, keep creating,” says Margo Price. “You get stuck in the same patterns of thinking, the same loops of addiction. But there comes a point where you just have to say, ‘I’m going to be here, I’m going to enjoy it, and I’m not going to put so much stock into checking the boxes for everyone else.’ I feel more mature in the way that I write now, I’m on more than just a search for large crowds and accolades. I’m trying to find what my soul needs.”
Gilded new song ‘Change Of Heart’ is online now, a refreshing, refulgent return that shows Margo at her best.
Tune in now.
