Maja Lena has shared new song ‘Clear As The Water’.

The songwriter rose up through Stroud’s alt-folk and folk-adjacent DIY collectives, afforded space to build her own voice. Maja’s more recent work has an electronic bent, but her relationship with the natural world remains a perennial touchstone.

New album ‘Pluto’ is out on December 2nd, accompanied by tour dates alongside Rachael Dadd. Looking ahead, Maja Lena will complete a headline tour in January and February.

New song ‘Clear As The Water’ is online, and it’s rather special indeed – all billowing about-turns, gossamer electronics, and her riveting vocals. Producer Rob Pemberton aids the building of the arrangement, using unconventional percussion to add extra kick to Maja’s songwriting.

She comments…

“‘Clear As The Water’ set the sonic tone for the record with plenty of synth explorations…

It’s about trying to work on yourself and make positive changes within yourself. I was feeling very inspired by mountain-scapes when I wrote it, and the feelings of clarity and fresh perspective I often have when immersed in nature, especially in a vast and dramatic landscape where you can feel very small and insignificant yet very free.

I wanted the music to have a feeling of euphoria to mirror this and also be fun and uplifting.”

Tune in now.
